Q: Will my choice of wood be expensive?

A: We advise people to design their project around the wood they like rather than the cost. We have found that the pricing differences between species of wood affect the overall price by a small percentage, sometimes as little as $50.00. Usually, if a person is choosing custom cabinetry for their home spending a little more for the wood they want is not a hardship.

Q: How much are your cabinets per foot?

A: Because all the work that we do is custom and every job is very different, it is impossible to boil our work down into a lineal foot price. However, we are happy to offer free bids on an individual basis.

Q: Is custom built cabinetry more expensive?

A: Quality costs money, but if you were to compare apples to apples we are generally only about 15% more than a high end preboxed cabinet and sometimes less.

Q: What are the steps in building my cabinets?

  1. We often begin with design layout and will take as much time as needed to achieve your vision using a CAD cabinet program or hand sketching as required.
  2. At this stage we review the many options of wood species, colors and moldings.
  3. Once price is agreed on, final manufacturing details are checked in the CAD program and we create a notebook with all of your job information.
  4. The craftsmen in the shop then begin to build your cabinetry according to the information provided in your job book. Care is taken at every step of the way to provide a high level of quality and to pay attention to the fine details along the way.
  5. Next, our finisher applies a durable finish appropriate to your project.
  6. After finishing, the doors and drawers are hung and specialty items are installed.
  7. And finally, we install the cabinets in your home.

Q: Do you install the cabinets you manufacture?

A: We prefer to, but we are willing to let the owner or their contractor install the cabinetry if they want. We take care to deliver your cabinetry in perfect condition by using professional moving blankets for packing during transportation to your home. Our installation crew continues the careful handling and applies their skills to make your project as you envisioned it to be, leaving your home in a clean, undamaged state upon completion.

Q: How do I care for my new cabinetry from JTC?

A: We use a quality catalyzed Sherwin Williams finish and apply multiple coats to achieve superior durability . We recommend a product called Scott’s Liquid Gold wood cleaner for regular light cleaning and maintenance. Scott’s also makes a cleaner for removing heavier dirt and grease in the event that it is needed.

Q: Do you warranty your work?

A: We take pride in our workmanship and use excellent materials and techniques. With that in mind we offer a lifetime warranty meaning we will repair free of charge any defect that in any way seems to be a manufacturing problem or hardware failure. If there has been obvious abuse we are willing to make repairs but we need to charge for our work.
